Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how Selly uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website and use our map-based classifieds service. It describes what these technologies are, why we use them, and how you can control them.

Last updated: 25 June 2026

What are cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, phone or tablet) when you visit it. They are stored by your browser and sent back to the website on subsequent visits, allowing it to recognise your device and remember information about your session.

"Similar technologies" means other methods that store or read information on your device for comparable purposes. On Selly these include:

  • Local storage and session storage, used to keep your interface state (for example, your last map position) on your device.
  • Pixels and web beacons, tiny images that help us understand whether a page or email was loaded.
  • Software development kits (SDKs) and similar tools embedded by us or by trusted third parties such as maps and analytics providers.

In this policy we refer to all of these technologies collectively as "cookies".

Why Selly uses cookies

Selly is a venue that connects buyers and sellers through listings pinned to a map. We use cookies to make the service work reliably, to remember your choices, to keep your account secure, and to understand and improve how the platform is used.

  • Keep you signed in and protect your account and the platform against fraud and abuse.
  • Remember your preferences, such as language, currency (€ or ₴), theme and your last position on the map.
  • Measure traffic and performance so we can fix problems and improve features.
  • Where you consent, show and measure the effectiveness of promotion and advertising of listings.

Types of cookies we use

We group the cookies we use into four categories. Only strictly necessary cookies are set automatically; the others are set only where you give your consent through the consent banner.

Strictly necessary

These cookies are essential for the website to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually set only in response to actions you take, such as signing in, filling in forms or setting your privacy preferences.

  • Authentication and session cookies that keep you logged in.
  • Security cookies that help detect fraudulent activity and protect against cross-site request forgery.
  • Load-balancing cookies that route your requests to the right server.
  • A cookie that records your cookie consent choices.

Preferences

These cookies allow Selly to remember choices you make to give you a more personal experience. They are not essential, but without them some convenience features will not work as expected.

  • Interface language (Ukrainian, Russian or English).
  • Display currency (€ or ₴) and other regional settings.
  • Light or dark theme.
  • Your last map position, zoom level and applied filters.

Analytics

These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with Selly by collecting and reporting information, usually in aggregated and pseudonymised form. They let us count visits, see which pages are most popular and detect errors.

  • Number of visitors, sessions and page views.
  • Which features, listings and categories are used most.
  • Performance metrics such as page load times and error rates.
  • Approximate region derived from the IP address, used for aggregated statistics.

Marketing and advertising

These cookies may be set through our site by us or by advertising partners. They are used to build a profile of your interests, to show you and measure promotion of listings, and to limit how often you see the same message.

  • Measuring the performance of promoted (paid) listings.
  • Limiting the number of times you see a particular promotion.
  • Measuring the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns.
  • Where applicable, showing relevant promotions on Selly and on third-party platforms.

Third-party cookies

Some cookies are set by third parties that provide functionality on Selly. We do not control these cookies, and we recommend reviewing the relevant providers' own privacy and cookie policies. Third-party technologies on Selly typically fall into these groups:

  • Maps: our interactive map relies on a mapping provider that may set cookies to render tiles, remember map settings and prevent abuse.
  • Analytics: analytics providers help us measure usage and performance, as described above.
  • Authentication providers: if you sign in with a third-party account (such as a social or email provider), that provider may set cookies needed to complete sign-in.
  • Payment and anti-fraud providers used when you pay to promote a listing.

Non-essential third-party cookies are only loaded after you have given your consent through the consent banner.

Managing and disabling cookies

You have several ways to control cookies on Selly:

  • Consent banner: when you first visit Selly, you can accept or reject non-essential cookies and choose categories. You can change your choices at any time via the "Cookie settings" link in the site footer.
  • Browser settings: most browsers let you block or delete cookies and warn you before they are stored. Check the help pages of Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge for instructions.
  • Device settings: on mobile devices you can reset or limit advertising identifiers in your operating system settings.

Please note that strictly necessary cookies cannot be disabled, because the service cannot function without them. If you block or delete other cookies, some features (such as staying signed in, remembering your language or your last map position) may not work correctly.

Do Not Track signals

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting that sends a signal to websites you visit indicating that you do not want to be tracked. There is currently no common industry or legal standard for how websites should interpret DNT signals.

Because of this lack of a uniform standard, Selly does not currently respond to DNT signals. However, we honour your choices made through our consent banner, and we do not set non-essential cookies unless you have agreed to them. We will update this section if a recognised DNT standard is adopted.

Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the technologies we use, in our services, or in legal and regulatory requirements such as the GDPR and Ukrainian data-protection law.

When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the service or ask for your consent again. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
